Unlocking True Potential of Zakat

The capital assistance program (CAP), one of the distribution methods by zakat institutions to allocate zakat funds has been used to produce new entrepreneurs. Through CAP, these entrepreneurs will receive either seed fund or in kind to start their business. The ultimate aim of CAP is to improve asnaf’s economic condition and quality of life. However, there is not much evidence that being highlighted to show the effectiveness of CAP. Does this program really help asnaf? Is it really works to bring out the recipients from poverty? Thus, this paper observes the recipients’ opinions on CAP and how this program affects their life. To achieve this, questionnaires were distributed to 150 CAP recipients. Overall, results show that the recipients satisfied with program and agrees that CAP able to assist them in improving their quality of life. However, they believed that there is a room for improvements for CAP executions. The findings are important to provide some insights to the zakat institutions to revisit the existing program for further improvements.
